Alex Sauickie was sworn in to the General Assembly in September by Republican Leader John DiMaio, who administered the oath of office from the chamber floor. Sauickie won a special convention in August to succeed the late Assemblyman Ron Dancer.

“It’s an honor to serve as an outspoken advocate for common-sense solutions in the state legislature, and I will work tirelessly to stop the disastrous Trenton policies that are ruining the economy and feeding inflation, coming between parents and children, and encroaching on individual liberties,” Sauickie said.

A lifelong resident of Jackson Township, Sauickie resigned from his town council position to serve as an assemblyman. His wife Maggie, two of his children, and Brenda Dancer, wife of the late Assemblyman, joined him in the Assembly chamber.

“I represent the struggling families who can’t afford the nation’s highest property taxes and the beleaguered business owners who are still trying to recover from government overreach through pandemic mandates,” he added. “I look forward to getting to work for the residents of the 12th legislative district and all New Jerseyans.”

Sauickie built a respected career in the financial technology services market starting with Merrill Lynch in 1994, helping to develop the electronic trading platform Merrill Edge. He went on to become chief executive and operating officer of multiple financial software companies. Currently, he serves as global head of wealth management services for Fidelity Information Services Inc., a multinational payment services provider based in Jacksonville, Fla.

Following the unexpected loss of his daughter, Chloe, from a rare heart condition in 2005, he founded a nonprofit to benefit children. He also volunteered as a board member of the Kimball Medical Center Foundation (now Monmouth Medical Center Southern Campus), where he served as chairman from 2012 to 2014.

He earned a Bachelor of Science in business administration and marketing from Trenton State College (now The College of New Jersey).

An avid marathoner and IRONMAN triathlete, he is a father of five and resides in Jackson Township with his wife, Maggie.
