Sauickie Asks Residents to Mark Veterans Day by Donating Personal Need Items to State Veteran’s Homes

Cream Ridge, N.J. — Assemblyman Alex Sauickie, a member of the Assembly Military and Veterans’ Affairs Committee, is asking residents of the 12th Legislative District to donate personal need items at his office located at 405 Route 539 (Pinehurst Road, Cream Ridge) for veterans living in the state’s three nursing homes in Paramus, Menlo Park, and Vineland.

“Many veterans who are living in the state’s veterans’ homes are on a very limited fixed income and can use additional personal care items to make their lives more comfortable,” said Sauickie (R-Ocean).

Assemblyman Sauickie recently filmed a YouTube video interview with Department of Military and Veterans Affairs Acting Deputy Commissioner Col. Nall (Ret.) in which the needs of our veterans was discussed. That video is linked below:

A selection of personal Needs items is listed below:

Shampoo; conditioner; hairbrush/comb; soap/body wash; toothpaste; toothbrush; dental floss; deodorant; facial wipes/cleanser; facial moisturizer; body moisturizer; hand cream; lip balm; razor; shaving gel; tweezers; small mirror; nail file; nail clippers; cotton buds/cotton pads; hand sanitizer; shower cap; bandaids; throat lozenges; and digital thermometers.

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs asks that the items be new and securely packaged.

Donated items can be dropped off at the office from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm throughout the week. Donations will be accepted until the end of the year.

“By donating personal need items, we can help repay our veterans for their years of sacrifice for our freedom,” Sauickie said.
